Side Stand Units

SP-300 Side Roll Stand

Overview

AME side pass stands can be installed on virtually any type of tube mill by accommodating various passline heights and roll-bearing configurations.  A single screw adjustment allows the operator to adjust the side pass rolls in or out simultaneous (squeeze pressure) or to locate the rolls laterally as a unit (tube center location). And, the side roll spindles cam be made to accept any bearing  currently use on existing tooling sets.

To prevent spreading of the side roll spindles, a tie bar assembly is used above the side rolls themselves. "Flip-top" side pass assemblies are available for heavy wall tube and pipe mills.

The passline of each side pass can be either fixed height or variable height. The fixed-height side pass is manufactured to exactly match the passline height of existing material stock. The base is a rigid steel weldment. This unit is best utilized in dedicated mills with high diameter-to-thickness ratios.

The variable-height design, as referenced at the lower flange of the side pass rolls, is adjustable via a helical gear. The upper slide block housing rides on two hardened tool steel pins.
